A film that depicts the image of Polish society at the turn of 20th century. It is an artistic combination of works of the most outstanding Polish writers with newspaper articles and facts that together make a synthetic picture of two families living in Cracow in 1874-1914.

Part 4 “Cracow 1901”: The premiere of “The Wedding” by Stanisław Wyspiański was a real breakthrough in the theatre, which until then was dominated by traditional middle-class comedies. The outstanding drama and the brilliant artist was received with not only delight, but also envy and jealousy. Mrs. Chomińska’s youngest daughter is unlucky in love with a young law student Antoni Relski.
