DESCRIPTION

A wild young girl runs away from her parents’ house to support herself. She becomes a famous dancer and attracts the attentions of a married man, who is prepared to abandon his wife and child for her. First Polish movie in USA cinemas with future Hollywood star Pola Negri.

The film was restored under the protection of the National Film Archive in 2017 by Di Factory and ReKino Studios. Project co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

DIRECTOR
Aleksander Hertz (1879–1928), silent film producer and director. Considered to be the father of Polish cinema. Unfortunately, almost all of his work was destroyed or went missing during the war. Discovered many young talents and raised actresses such as Pola Negri or Jadwiga Smosarska to stardom in his self-founded Sfinks studio. The studio also created screen adaptations of great literary works, but audiences appreciated dramas and comedies the most.
