DESCRIPTION

Sometimes the way from the pre-war tenement house through the night shelters to the squat can be very short. Marek, a student of law, lives in Warsaw with his mother. As a result of the eviction, they lose their apartment and have to find a new home quickly. Finally, Marek manages to negotiate a place in a squat in the city centre. The relative happiness of the characters does not last long, however, because a demonstration on the occasion of Independence Day on November 11th is just beginning in the capital. A group of aggressive hooligans is trying to enter the building where they found shelter. The film is dedicated to the director's mother.

AWARDS
2018 Istanbul IFF – Golden Tulip nomination

DIRECTOR
Andrzej Jakimowski (1963) Polish feature and documentary film director, writer and producer. Each of his films evokes a stir among the audience and the admiration of the festival jury. From the very beginning Jakimowski's cinema was characterised by extraordinary sensitivity and empathy towards its protagonists. Jakimowski already in “Zmruż oczy” touched upon seemingly such issues as family, understanding for individuality, the emotional sphere of life. “Once in November”it follows that example and even goes a step further.
