DESCRIPTION

Edward Żebrowski, who died in 2014, was one of the most interesting Polish film directors. The phenomenon of his personality was shown through the prism of his own notes, found after his death. The film presents Żebrowski's life and work, fascinating for his contemporaries, but also for next generations of students. They talk about the director, among them: Małgorzata Jaworska, Krzysztof Zanussi, Wojciech Marczewski, Agnieszka Holland, Agnieszka Smoczyńska, Michał Komar, Michał Klinger and Herbert Distel.

After the projection of “Notes on Life”, we invite you to watch a short film “SZANSA” (dir. Edward Żebrowski, 1970, TVP). This is a topic which is constantly current and which, despite the passage of the years, still gives rise to controversy. Although medical developments, ethical concerns about transplant issues persist in public discourse and private conversations. Zbyszek, the protagonist of this short, black-and-white film, visits a sick colleague in hospital. He learns that the only rescue for a terminally ill patient lying in the room is a kidney transplantation. Zbyszek decides to donate his organ and reports himself as a donor.
