DESCRIPTION

Great Britain, 1959. In a small East English town, Florence Green decides, against polite but ruthless local opposition, to open a bookshop. But a town that lacks a bookshop isn’t always a town that wants one – books can be dangerous! Based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel of the same name “The Bookshop”.

DIRECTOR
Isabel Coixet(1960) Spanish film director, she started filming when she was given a 8mm camera on the occasion of her First Communion. She is one of the most prolific film directors of contemporary Spain, having directed twelve feature-length films since the beginning of her film career in 1988, in addition to documentary films, shorts and commercials. She deals with recurring themes of emotions, feelings and existential conflict coupled with her distinct visual style.
